CAST IRON EARTHING PIPE/ CAST IRON EARTHING ELECTRODE
Our Cast Iron Earthing Pipes are IS 3043 Practice of Earthing. These Cast Iron Pipes are casted with Combination of 3.5%-3.8% Carbon Content and the Presence of Silicon, Manganese, Silica sand & Phosphorous that gives cast iron its excellent finish and add on towards its quality is the use of HIGH QUALITY OF RAW MATERIALS of IRON which in return supports in increasing the elasticity of the CAST IRON product thereby increasing its durability.
Our CAST IRON EARTHING PIPE Commonly Known as CI EARTHING PIPES are widely used in the industry by Power Generation Sector, Solar Energy Transmission Sector, Wind Energy Sector, Power Transmission & Distribution Sector, Heavy Industries, Telecommunication Industry, Tower Industry, Power Generators and Commercial & Domestic Industries etc. .

1. PURPOSE OF EARTHING .
Earthing (or grounding) provides a low-resistance path for electrical fault currents to safely dissipate into the earth, protecting personnel from electric shock,electrical equipment from overvoltage, and systems against lightning and transient faults.
2. WHY CAST IRON PIPE FOR EARTHING .
Cast iron is used because of these key properties:
- High mechanical strength — resists deformation during installation.
- Corrosion resistance — especially when buried in moist soil.
- Good conductivity — helps maintain a low resistance connection to earth.
CI pipes are especially preferred in areas with high soil corrosivity or rocky terrain.
INSTALLATION STEP BY STEP PROCEDURE
- Bore a Vertical Hole - Drill or dig a hole deeper than the local water table to improve conductivity.
- Insert CI Pipe- Use OUR ADVANCE EARTHINGCAST IRON as the earth electrode,The pipe should be vertically aligned with uniform embedment.
- Add MOISTURE BOOSTING FILLING COMPOUND (MBFC) - Surround the pipe with layers of MBFC EARTHING COMPOUND SOAKED AND MIXED IN WATER ALONG WITH CHARCOAL AND ROCK SALT (OUR MOISTURE BOOSTING COMPOUND reduce soil resistivity and enhance current dissipation.)
- Connect Earth Conductor - PREFERABLE ADVANCE EARTHING COPPER /GI HOT DIP FLAT bolted to the CI pipe using:
- COVER THE EARTH PIT with a wide Range of EARTH PIT AND COVER AVAILABLE EXCLUSIVELY AT OUR STORE.
ELECTRICAL PERFORMANCE - CAST IRON PIPE FOR EARTHING
A cast iron (CI) pipe is commonly used in earthing systems to provide a safe and effective path for fault current to dissipate into the ground. The pipe is installed vertically in the soil and surrounded by conductive materials such as charcoal/coke and salt to improve earth resistance.
Cast iron pipes used for earthing are strong, durable, and corrosion-resistant, making them suitable for long-term underground installation. The earthing conductor is securely connected to the pipe using clamps or bolts to ensure reliable electrical continuity. CI pipe earthing is widely used in residential, commercial, and industrial electrical installations to protect equipment and personnel from electric shock.
The goal in earthing design is to achieve a LOW EARTH RESISTANCE (Re), typically:
🔹 Residential: ≤ 2 Ω
🔹 Industrial / Substations: ≤ 1 Ω or as per standard and the Resistance depends on the following calculation :
- Soil resistivity (ρ),
- Pipe depth,
- Surface area of electrode.
The equation approximated for a vertical rod (similar to pipe):
Re ≈ (ρ / 2πL) * [ln(4L/d) − 1]
where
L = length of pipe,
d = diameter,
ρ = soil resistivity.
IN THIS SEGMENT OF CAST IRON EARTHING ELECTRODE WE OFFER A WIDE RANGE OF CASTIRON EARTHING PIPE I.e.
